Come Snuggle with Valais Blacknose Sheep

My name is Becky Phillips, and I’ve been raising Katahdin sheep for over 25 years at our family farm—Phillips Family Farmstead in Washington, PA. In 2022, after a great deal of research (and quite a bit of online stalking!), we were thrilled to add Valais Blacknose sheep to our flock. Originally from Switzerland, this rare and captivating breed has a fascinating journey to the U.S.—a story for another time!

Valais Blacknose sheep are truly one-of-a-kind. Their sweet, affectionate personalities and irresistibly cuddly appearance make them feel more like living stuffed animals than livestock. They thrive on love, attention, and gentle care. While they require a bit more TLC than our Katahdins, we feel incredibly fortunate to have them as part of our farm family.

Join us at the inaugural Pennsylvania Sheep & Wool Festival, October 11–12, 2025, at the Dayton Fairgrounds! We’ll be offering Sheep Snuggling—a chance to relax, take photos, and experience firsthand the joy and fluffy charm of the Valais Blacknose sheep. Come cuddle, connect, and leave with a happy heart!
